new TV yesterday, and I must say; it’s fucking awesome!

My New TV

It is a Vistron Sense 32″ HD Ready LCD TV with Freeview. Tried it out last night after getting in from work and playing with the Gerbils; the screen quality is really good, may not be a major brand, but its good enough.

Went out drinking for a late St. Paddy’s day drink (damn 150 year rule) with a friend of the girlie’s and I. We came back and I hooked it upto the Xbox 360, turned it onto 1080P (very nice) and had a round of Halo 3 with it.

Unfortunatly that’s all the use I can get out of it till we move into our apartment (in just over a months time). But alas, I just need to get a PS3 now!

Not often I buy a game purely on the fact of who did some of the voice acting in it. Well, to be completely honest, I never have. That’s untill The Darkness came along in it’s glory as if it came straight out of a comic book; which it did.

The Darkness

For one of those games which suprises you how good it actually is and not just a cheap knock-up. Here’s the thing, you get to walk around New York as a semi-demon, and also the World War I trenches, and you get darklings to do your bidding. It is pretty cool.

The voice of The Darkness it’s self is done by Mike Patton of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle and a host of other bands I cannot remember. He is the reason why I got it.

I’ve picked up the prequal comics on ebay and will probably get the Ultimate Collection at some point too. Mind you, they aren’t old skool comics, but they should be good.

If you got a PS3 or a Xbox 360, I suggest getting this game now, you can pick it up cheap now. If you love FPS’ or the whole comic book or horror thing going on then it’s a must. Got a bit of ganster/Mafia stuff going on in there as well.

Halo KittyI’ve always known about Halo, even played a bit when it came out on PC (demo mind you). But one thing is for sure; I never thought anything decent about it.

When I played it on the PC, it was really sluggish and didn’t look much. But it had been out for a while on the orignal Xbox and it was a console FPS on the PC, which I never thought took that well. Halo just looked like another FPS lost in the crowed to me, and I could never get into it.

A few months back, when I got offered my current job (first job coming out of being a student), I went out and bought a Xbox 360 along with Perfect Dark Zero, Viva Pinata and some original Xbox game, one of which was Halo 2. I played it for a bit on the single player mission and quickly on Live, and just didn’t really get into it. Possibly because I wanted to play more 360 games. None-the-less, the game did seem a little… bland.

After all the hype and too much cash in my bank account (and some talk from my future mother-in-law strangly enough), I went out and bought Halo 3. That night, a friend came round and we played it for about 3 hours solid.

The multiplayer blew me away!

I’ve now come to a point where I want to know the story better and not just start off some random segment in Halo 3 from the basic knowledge of what I know of Halo 2 (the first level all the way before he jumps off the ship!). So I purchased a copy of the game that orignally made me think twice about the games and got the original Halo for the Xbox. Now my main concern is if Halo is gonna go crap before I get upto Halo 3?

The story sounds cool enough; aliens and religion and big ass monsters call “The Flood”; it all makes of gaming pleasure. So what if I cause genocide to a particular alien religious sect… it’s just like real life!
