Not sure if you’re supposed to do this, or even if it’s a good idea to, but I managed to fix a properly buggered up processor; CPU for those who understand a little less about computers, or, “the jobbie what makes the computer think proper” for those who just don’t have a clue.
Had to replace a processor fan and the heat-sink, but had none of the proper equipment so I had to yank the whole processor, heat-sink and fan in one swoop. This caused me to bend a fuck load of pins. So rather than convince my boss to by me a new machine (a Mac Pro would be nice) I sat there with a pen and paperclip, staightening up every bent pin I could see for about an hour.
As my co-workers wondered what the fuck I was doing, then wondered why I was doing it (normally you would give up on it), I managed to straigten out all the pins! Huzzah!
That’s my little success story for the day, thought I would share it! ^_^
Laters.
