It’s as people says, it’s not without faults, but the phone is quiet the sexy piece of phone. But looking at the list of features for the new update, if a point of a point update has something major like “pinpoint your location using cell tower triangulation” then think of it when they start doing 1.2.0 and even 2.0.0.
I think my only annoyance is no third-party apps at the moment, thought that is set to change. Not having naitive access to MMS is annoying, but I’ve found the work-round already [UK only for 02 though].
Will get back to normal blogging soon, but probably be in Feb after I’ve come back from my long over due holiday to Canada.
So I went and had a look at getting an iPhone contract. O2 wouldn’t buy my contract out and lacked response to when I suggested getting one unlocked; after the dude said you will never find one that works when, in-fact, the majority of people that have tried got it to work with hacks and you can buy one from France unlocked. Phones4u bullshitted a lot about the iPhone to sell me something else (FYI, the iPhone does have Bluetooth).
Does piss me off salesmen when they bullshit. I’ve done my research on the iPhone and then go into a store, play with one for a bit and ask about the contract stuff and not technical. Doesn’t that show that maybe I do know about what I want? Also, when somebody points out that your price plan is crappy and the hand set is a tad bit expensive for such a price plan, you try and defend your ground stating something like additional offers and reasons under-the-hood.
Phone salesmen seem to be the worst out of the lot really? At least car salesmen try to con me with dodgy price plans and loan offers; if somebody asks the final cost, you they aren’t asking for the monthly payment, I don’t care for the fact I pay £150 a month on a £9000 car, I want to spend £6000. Also, if the price you are offering for a car is shit, don’t let me walk away to come back to sign papers tomorrow because I will have found 20 cars better and cheaper. (Rant!)
So yes, salesmen in general then aren’t the best people. I love approaching them from two angles; the idiot and then the educated. Go in saying “Oh, that’s nice! I want it.” Try and be dumb for a few moments, then become really intelligent saying “Well, hang on…” It apathetic salesmen are the best to deal with in my humble opinion as they just don’t care. I swear that’s why when I used to work at a supermarket, I used to mention that a product was shit and that another one is better. Sales figures where always messed up as I only looked out for myself and the customer, never the company as they where conning people themselves in strange ways. Alas I only ever did that to the one company, when I worked as a steward, and now with the company I’m in, it’s for customers, business and myself.
So that’s it really. The life of sales and the salesmen in it. Direct sales is always something of a BS match any way, so you just need to watch your back with them; your are either an asshole or pussy, and salesmen are always dicks, just that if your a pussy, the salesmen will enjoy taking you for a ride, while an asshole, they will hate it!
Walked into the O2 store and had a quick dabble with a iPod touch (dunno why they had that), then took an iPhone from a kid getting his greasy mitts all over it (Kerrie just outstared some chav girl). Such a nice phone, I was thinking against it and just sticking with my N73e, but after a chat with one of the guys at work over the camera (iPhone being a 2.0MP camera) I didn’t seem that bad, baring in mind I carry my camera around a lot now.
It’s such a shame that O2 won the contract as the tariff is shit. So the only option now is to buy an unlocked one off eBay… or better yet, import from France as they have to sell a version that is unlocked SIM-wise. So maybe worth waiting for their version rather than getting some dodgy unlocked one.
I just don’t know!! If anybody knows of a good retailer in the UK who sells unlocked iPhones then show me! Please?
